WEYA In-Schools Programs 2008

SCRAYP

The education arm of Western Edge SCRAYP brings an artistic edge to learning. SCRAYP stands for: Schools, Community, Research, Arts, Youth & Performance.

SCRAYP has been a dynamic and innovative force in challenging educational contexts in Melbourne since 1996 under the leadership of Dave Kelman with his experienced team of professional and emerging artists.

The western suburbs of Melbourne are home to a incredibly diverse population of young people, from many backgrounds both cultural and social.

SCRAYP provides fully funded arts mentoring and training to young people through schools programs. There is a particular focus on the facilitation of high quality arts experiences to culturally diverse young people of the west and particular schools experiencing hardship.

WEYA In-Schools aims to give young people of ALL backgrounds the opportunity to participate in the arts and connect with their environment and community through the artistic work they produce.

Western Edge Youth Arts is proud to have the support the Department of Education & Early Childhood Development, the R.E.Ross Trust, The Myer Foundation, the Ian Potter Foundation, research partners at The University of Melbourne and our partner schools, staff and students at Debney Park SC, Kensington Community School, Debney Meadows PS, Kensington PS and Travancore School.
