I liked taking part in a dystopian play – living in the future, problems we face
The play is about what happening now and in the future – and how we need to stop it before it could escalate
I thought it was great choosing Asian stories as I honestly find western stories boring.
Asian stories are about gods demons lords emperors kings queens. They are more serious and deep that western stories.
Because of the Western Edge project I have become a stronger person. I learn to try something I’ve never done before and to believe I get out of my comfort zone and do anything.
The show is the community…whoever is in the venue is the show – they can find the story in themselves
The work is a struggle because e are trying to decipher who we are – deciphering our identity in Australian society
It is very hard for us as youth to open our hearts … we’re looking for peace, we're really looking for good change, so we really worked hard for it.
Everything I’ve started in life I’ve come to a point where I’ve let it go – with this I had to keep going.
I learnt how to be more confident in what I do and I got some awesome new friends
I got a lot out of the project [it] gave me confidence to be able to work more professionally
Now I understand the police more and hopefully they understand us more. They didn't seem like cops.
You've changed us all, in a way
My grandparents thought I’d muck up but my grandma yeah she cried when she saw it.
It showed me that I can do more than I am doing – that I can be stronger than I already am
Art is just a great way to express feelings and you know through art you can teach people and there is no greater way.
At the end of the play when we pack up the chairs and go home it’s a bit sad to just lose the moment and you feel like you want to do another play all over again.
I will always remember Western Edge because of the exhilarating feeling when you step on stage
