Emerging Artists as Cultural Leaders
This project examines the practice of young emerging Culturally and Linguistically Diverse theatre-makers working on a community theatre project in Flemington. The project is a collaboration between Melbourne School of Graduate Education and Western Edge Youth Arts and looks at ways in which artists develop an understanding of their own artistic production and articulate it to others. A central aim of the project is to identify research practices which can generate insight and praxis for the artists working in their own community. The project will culminate in a symposium for key stakeholders, led by the artists, highlighting artistic production and sustainable community arts practice. The Chief Investigator is Dr Chris Sinclair of the University of Melbourne. Dr Dave Kelman is a partner investigator.
